What is Vanity metric?

Definition and meaning of Vanity metric:

A vanity metric is a statistic that looks good on the surface but doesn’t mean much or doesn’t bring any results. For example, the number of likes on your Facebook page.

It’s nice to see that people like your page, but it doesn’t mean these people are using your product or service.

Vanity metrics can help give you a general idea, but they don’t provide insight into whether your business is growing.

Examples of vanity metrics:

  • Followers
  • Page views
  • Emails in your newsletter list
  • Post likes and comments
